TrainingPeaks

Move your TrainingPeaks history into Coachbox

Upload your Workout Files export and start on day one with your full history instead of an empty calendar.

What comes into Coachbox

  • Your training history

What this connection cannot do

  • This is a one-time import, not a live connection.
  • One TrainingPeaks export covers at most twelve months, so a longer history comes as several archives that you upload one after the other.
  • Only completed activities are in the export. TrainingPeaks cannot export planned workouts or your workout library.

Leaving TrainingPeaks is easier than most people expect, as long as you grab the right export. The one you want is Workout Files, which holds the actual activity files behind every session you completed.

How it works

You download that ZIP from TrainingPeaks and upload it in Coachbox. We work through the whole archive and turn every activity in it into a workout in your calendar.

Power, heart rate and GPS all come across, so the analysis on day one looks the way it did before you moved.

Several archives, in a row

TrainingPeaks caps one export at twelve months. Five years of history is five archives, and you upload them one at a time: wait for the running import to finish, click Import another file, pick the next one.

Overlapping periods do no harm. Coachbox recognises what it already has and lists those as skipped in the summary.

What is not in the box

Only completed activities. Planned workouts and your workout library are not part of the export, because TrainingPeaks does not offer them in one. Training zones do not come across either: you set those yourself, or your coach does.

Coming from Strava instead? That export is shaped differently, so follow the Strava import.

Questions about integrations

I get a message that the archive holds no workout files. Why?

It is almost certainly the wrong export. Under Export Data, TrainingPeaks also offers Workout Summary and Custom Metrics, and those are CSV files without any activity data. You need the ZIP from Workout Files.

Five years of history means five uploads. Is that a problem?

No. Upload them one after the other and overlapping periods are fine. Coachbox recognises what it already imported and lists those as skipped.

Do my planned workouts come across?

No, and not because we skipped it. The Workout Files export contains only the files behind sessions you actually completed. TrainingPeaks cannot export planned workouts or your library.

What if a file cannot be read?

It shows up as failed or skipped in the summary, with the reason, and the rest of the archive imports as normal.
