A Tacx sits in an odd spot: it is a training platform in its own right, but it does not need its own connection. Garmin bought Tacx, and the Tacx Training app reads its workouts straight from your athlete’s Garmin Connect account.
That makes the setup shorter than you would expect. If the Garmin connection is already live, Tacx works.
From your calendar to ERG mode
Every structured power workout Coachbox sends to Garmin shows up in the Tacx Training app as a cycling workout, ready to ride in ERG mode with the interval structure and the wattage targets intact.
Coachbox pushes the next sessions to Garmin on its own once Automatically submit scheduled workouts is on. To send one yourself, open the workout and click the Garmin icon next to Export.
And back again
When your athlete finishes, the Tacx Training app uploads the ride to Garmin Connect. From there it flows into Coachbox over the same connection, usually within a few minutes. Nobody exports anything.
What it does not cover
The Tacx app is built around cycling. A running workout you planned in Coachbox will not appear in it, even though it reaches Garmin fine and works on the watch.
