A paddling session recorded on a standard watch profile comes back as a line of heart rate and a distance. Everything that makes it a paddling session is missing.
What Coachbox reads
Two numbers survive that most platforms throw away: stroke rate and distance per stroke.
Stroke rate arrives on the cadence channel, so it flows into the chart, the lap table, the peak values, the duration curves and the zones. You do not switch to a separate paddling mode to see it, and every tool you already use for running or cycling works on it.
Distance per stroke sits on the workout itself. It stays off the session summary on purpose: it is a result of how your athlete paddled, not something you prescribe in advance.
Why it matters for a paddle coach
Speed in a boat is stroke rate multiplied by distance per stroke, and an athlete can hold the same split with two very different combinations. Watching which one they trade away as they fatigue is the whole conversation. Without the two numbers, you are back to heart rate and a stopwatch.
This came out of a coach asking for it. If you paddle and something else is missing from the analysis, tell us.
