TL;DR: Vekta’s pricing model is unusual and easy to misread. The headline is “free for coaches, always”, and that is true: coaches pay no base subscription. The cost sits entirely on the athlete side: every athlete account costs EUR 19.99 per month or EUR 179.99 per year (about 25 percent cheaper), paid by the athlete or covered by the coach. There is no free athlete tier. A 14-day free trial applies, with no credit card and no setup fees. For a self-coached rider, EUR 19.99 buys WorldTour-grade analytics at the price of a TrainingPeaks Premium account. For a coach with a full roster, the arithmetic changes fast: 20 athletes represent roughly EUR 400 per month in platform cost across the practice. Coachbox flips that model: the coach pays a flat plan from EUR 12.95 per month, athletes ride free, and lactate testing is included. Which model wins depends entirely on who pays and how many athletes you coach.
Vekta Pricing Overview
Vekta, the AI training platform at joinvekta.com built on Critical Power and W’ modelling, keeps its price list unusually short. There are no tiers, no feature gates, and no premium add-ons. One subscription unlocks the entire platform: the performance model, machine learning interval detection, AI session summaries, the AI workout builder, durability analysis, and the mobile app with full workout creation.
The structure has two sides:
Coach Access: Free
Coaches use Vekta for free, always. That includes the coach dashboard with roster-wide load, recovery, sleep, HRV and wellness data, workspaces for organising teams, chat, and full access to every connected athlete’s data. There is no base fee, no per-seat coach cost, and no feature-limited coach tier. Compare that with TrainingPeaks, where coach subscriptions run $21.99 to $54.99 per month before athlete costs (see TrainingPeaks Pricing for the full picture).
Athlete Accounts: EUR 19.99 Per Month
Every athlete on Vekta needs a paid account:
| Billing | Price | Effective Monthly |
|---|---|---|
| Monthly | EUR 19.99/month | EUR 19.99 |
| Annual | EUR 179.99/year | EUR 15.00 |
The annual plan saves about 25 percent. Third-party coverage at launch listed equivalent pricing of GBP 17.99 and USD 21.99 per month. Either the athlete pays their own subscription, or the coach covers it on their behalf; Vekta supports both arrangements.
Every account starts with a 14-day free trial, no credit card required, and subscriptions can be cancelled anytime. There are no setup fees.
What’s Included
Vekta’s single subscription covers the full feature set with no gating:
- Performance model: Critical Power, W’, Pmax and estimated VO2 max, derived automatically from training data and updated daily
- Adaptive zones: Training zones recalibrate automatically as capacity changes
- ML interval detection: Automatic detection and classification of session structure
- AI session summaries: Generated after every workout, delivered to coach and athlete
- AI workout builder: Structured sessions from plain-language descriptions, including voice input on mobile
- Durability analysis: Peak power at fatigue levels from 0 to 50 kJ/kg
- W’ balance: Real-time depletion tracking and pre-session projections
- Race detection: Automatic classification of races by type
- Device sync: Garmin, Wahoo, Hammerhead, COROS and Zwift, plus WHOOP, Oura, Tymewear and CORE for recovery data
- Full mobile app: Complete workout creation, editing and analysis on the phone
This all-inclusive approach deserves credit. TrainingPeaks holds interval detection behind its Premium tier and sells its power-duration modelling as a separate $169 desktop product (WKO5). Vekta includes everything for everyone.
What Vekta Really Costs: Three Scenarios
The published price only becomes meaningful when you multiply it across a coaching practice.
Scenario 1: A self-coached cyclist. One account, EUR 179.99 per year on the annual plan. For a data-driven rider this is straightforward value: analytics that previously required TrainingPeaks Premium plus WKO5 for less than the combined price.
Scenario 2: A coach with 15 athletes who pay their own way. The coach pays nothing. Each athlete pays EUR 19.99 per month or EUR 179.99 per year. Total platform cost across the practice: about EUR 300 per month, but distributed. This works when every athlete is committed enough to carry their own subscription. In practice, that describes performance-focused adult athletes, and excludes most juniors, club riders and casual clients.
Scenario 3: A coach with 25 athletes who covers the accounts. Many coaches bundle software into their coaching fee. At EUR 19.99 per athlete, 25 athletes cost EUR 499.75 per month, or about EUR 375 per month on annual billing. That is more than ten times what a flat-fee platform costs a comparable roster, and it grows linearly with every athlete added.
The pattern is clear: Vekta’s model is athlete-funded by design. It rewards practices where each athlete values the platform enough to pay for it, and punishes coaches who absorb platform costs for large or mixed rosters.
Hidden Costs to Consider
No Free Athlete Tier
Most coaching platforms, including Coachbox, Nolio and TrainingPeaks (in basic form), offer a free athlete account. Vekta does not. Every rostered athlete either pays or is paid for after the 14-day trial. For coaches with club athletes, development riders or price-sensitive clients, part of the roster may simply never get on the platform.
The Roster Growth Tax
Because cost scales per athlete with no cap, growth has a price. Moving from 10 to 30 athletes triples the platform cost across your practice. Flat-fee platforms decouple those two curves; Vekta ties them together permanently.
Tools You Still Need
Vekta contains no lactate testing, no athlete billing or invoicing, no marketplace and no education content. Coaches who test athletes need separate testing software, and coaches who bill athletes monthly need separate payment tooling. Those subscriptions sit on top of the Vekta line item. See Vekta Alternatives for platforms that bundle more of the stack.
Device Gaps
No Polar, Suunto or Apple Watch integration, and no Strava import by design. If part of your roster trains on those ecosystems, their data does not reach Vekta today, whatever you pay.
Is Vekta’s Pricing Good Value?
For the right user, genuinely yes. A committed cyclist with a power meter gets more analytical depth per euro than any competitor offers: TrainingPeaks Premium costs a comparable $19.99 per month and needs a $169 WKO5 purchase to approach Vekta’s modelling. Vekta’s all-inclusive, no-tiers approach is honest, and free coach access removes any barrier to evaluating it.
The value case weakens as the roster widens. Coaches who cover athlete accounts face costs that scale with headcount, coaches with budget-sensitive athletes lose part of the roster to the paywall, and everyone still needs extra tools for testing, billing and education. Our full Vekta Review covers where the platform itself excels and where it stops.
How Coachbox Pricing Compares
Coachbox inverts Vekta’s model: the coach pays a flat, published plan, and athletes use the app for free.
Coachbox Coach Plans
| Plan | Price | Athletes |
|---|---|---|
| Base | EUR 12.95/month | Up to 5, with overage per extra |
| Build | EUR 24.95/month | Unlimited |
| Peak | EUR 39.95/month | Unlimited, plus custom branding and API |
| Summit | EUR 69.95/month | Unlimited, plus multiple coaches |
All plans include the complete platform: training planning, athlete communication, calendars, analytics, annual periodization, device sync (Garmin, Wahoo, Polar, Suunto, COROS, Fitbit, TomTom, with Zwift and Rouvy coming soon), zone management that updates automatically from test results, and Coachbox AI, an assistant you can chat with about your athletes’ data.
Every coaching plan comes with a set of free lactate tests when you join, with the number depending on the plan; after that, tests are priced per test. Athletes of a coach use the app free, forever, and self-coached athletes can subscribe to Coachbox One at EUR 3.95 per month. The free trial is 14 days, no credit card. Club and federation pricing is custom, on request.
The Roster Math, Side by Side
The comparison sharpens when you put a real roster against both models, assuming the coach carries the cost:
| Roster size | Vekta (monthly billing) | Coachbox Build |
|---|---|---|
| 5 athletes | EUR 99.95/month | EUR 24.95/month |
| 15 athletes | EUR 299.85/month | EUR 24.95/month |
| 30 athletes | EUR 599.70/month | EUR 24.95/month |
If athletes pay their own way on Vekta, the coach’s own cost is zero and the comparison becomes about what each athlete gets for EUR 19.99 versus a free Coachbox athlete account. Vekta’s athlete app offers deeper cycling analytics; Coachbox’s athlete app is free and localized in seven languages.

When Vekta’s Pricing Makes Sense
You are a self-coached, data-driven cyclist. One subscription, all features, WorldTour-grade modelling. At EUR 15 per month on annual billing, this is arguably the best pure-analytics value in cycling.
Your athletes happily pay for their own tools. If your practice serves committed adult athletes who see EUR 19.99 per month as a normal training expense, the coach-free model means your software costs you nothing.
You want everything unlocked with no tier anxiety. No feature matrix to study, no premium gates. One price, whole platform.
When Coachbox’s Pricing Makes More Sense
You cover platform costs for your roster. A flat EUR 24.95 per month for unlimited athletes beats EUR 19.99 per athlete from the second athlete onward. The difference funds the rest of your coaching stack several times over.
Your roster includes athletes who won’t pay. Juniors, club riders, starters and casual clients get a free Coachbox account and full app access. On Vekta they sit outside the platform.
You test your athletes. Lactate testing with automatic LT1/LT2 detection is included in every Coachbox plan, with free tests at signup and per-test pricing after that. Adding separate testing software next to Vekta costs more and integrates nothing. See the full comparison in Coachbox vs Vekta.
Your athletes don’t work in English. Coachbox is localized in seven languages. An athlete app your athletes actually understand is worth more than modelling depth they never open.
Making Your Decision
Choose Vekta if you are a self-funded athlete or a coach whose athletes each carry their own subscription, and cycling analytics depth is the deciding factor. The pricing is honest, everything is included, and free coach access makes trying it costless.
Choose Coachbox if you pay for your roster’s platform, coach athletes across budgets and languages, or want testing, education and communication in the same subscription. The flat-fee model keeps your costs flat while your practice grows.
Both platforms offer 14-day trials without a credit card, so the cheapest way to decide is to run both with a few athletes and see which economics, and which workflow, fit the practice you actually run.
