Tech entrepreneur Jeroen De Wit is bundling his sport and health investments in his Leadout fund. That fund is now investing in Coachbox, a platform for coaches who guide athletes. “This is our way of contributing proactively to healthcare.”
The keen cyclist and amateur triathlete got to know the platform through his own coach. “Everyone wants to complete a marathon or triathlon these days”, says De Wit. “Starting a training program is easy. Reaching the finish line is a lot harder.”
Built for and by coaches
Coachbox is built for and by coaches. Not as an app that replaces the coach, but as a platform that makes the coach stronger. Where other tools generate training schedules automatically, Coachbox supports coaches with insights, structure and thoughtful AI assistance so they can guide athletes personally. Because the best performances do not come from data alone. They come from trust, insight and human guidance.
The coach makes the difference
“There are more training apps today than ever before”, says Ruben Vandevoorde, founder of Coachbox. “But we see a clear shift in the market: athletes no longer want a standard schedule, they want guidance tailored to them. They are looking for a coach who takes their goals into account, thinks along with them, makes adjustments when life gets in the way, and looks beyond the numbers. Coachbox helps coaches do exactly that, at a scale that was not possible before.”
The approach works. To prepare for the most recent edition of the Antwerp 10 Miles, nearly 1,000 runners were guided through a coach and the Coachbox platform.
Three investors believe in the human factor
Coachbox today announces a strategic investment from three entrepreneurs who understand that technology only creates value when it strengthens people rather than replacing them.
Jeroen De Wit, founder and CEO of Teamleader, recognized the opportunity right away. “The demand for personal guidance is growing incredibly fast, and most tools do not have an answer for that. Coachbox does, because the coach is truly at the center. That is exactly the right approach.”
Eva Maertens, business partner and a convinced user of the platform, and Kristof De Smet, former CEO of Golazo Energy and himself an entrepreneur in the sport and health sector, share that conviction. Together, the three investors want to help Coachbox grow into the reference platform for endurance coaches in Europe.
